On your first appointment, please register at Patient Registration, which is beside the Information Desk in the main lobby at Woodstock Hospital.
The Pre-Admit Clinic is located on the main level of the hospital, in the Ambulatory Care Service Area.
The Pre-Admission Clinic at Woodstock Hospital helps prepare patients for a surgical procedure. Your surgeon's office will make the appointment for you. Typically, appointments with our Pre-Admit Clinic are booked out 1 week prior to surgery. The appointment may be scheduled as a telephone, virtual or in person visit.
A registered nurse will ask you questions about your health in order to fill out the necessary paperwork. At this time, the nurse will also talk to you about the procedure, discuss what will happen and ensure that you have the information you need to know. Discussion also surrounds what to expect before and after hospitalization. This appointment takes approximately 2 hours to complete. Please remember to bring a list of your current medications, including herbal, with you along with your health card. A Pharmacy technician may also review your medications. You may also be scheduled to meet with an Anesthetist who will discuss your anesthesia for your surgery and ensure any required tests are completed.
During pandemics, appointments will be arranged virtually or by telephone rather than in person appointments. You will still receive the preoperative questionnaire from your surgeon that should be completed before your scheduled appointment with the nurse.
