Oliver Dean Mabee was born January 25, 2016 at 2:10pm. His proud mother and father, Rachel Veenstra and Roger Mabee, couldn’t be happier with his healthy arrival at Woodstock Hospital.

“This is our first child, so we didn’t know what to expect, but there’s a sense of comfort at Woodstock Hospital,” said Rachel. “From the friendly staff to the beautiful birthing room, the care we received was exceptional.” The Labour and Delivery rooms at Woodstock Hospital are specially designed for labour, delivery and postpartum care. Each room features an infant warmer, a large private bathroom with an air-jet tub and can accomodate partners or support individuals who wish to stay overnight.

Both Rachel and Roger work at Woodstock Hospital, which gave them a different perspective as patients. “It’s a lot different when you go from being a co-worker to a patient,” shared Roger. “We saw the other side of things and couldn’t be happier with our experience.”

In 2015, WH had 874 births, a steady increase since we moved into our new facility in 2011. With the addition of a fifth obstetrician this year, the Maternal Child Department expects to deliver over 1,000 babies annually. The unit provides a home-like environment designed to make parents feel comfortable and at ease. Stories like Rachel and Roger’s exemplify the importance of investing in patient care at Woodstock Hospital.
