General X-ray

X-ray Requisition Form

Hours of operation:

Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm (some exams have specific times that they are performed)
The x-ray department is staffed 24/7 for emergency and inpatient routine x-ray requests.

X-ray exams are the most common studies performed in Radiology or Diagnostic Imaging. These exams include routine x-rays of bones, joints, chest, abdomen and spines. Other exams that are performed include UGI’s, Barium enemas, Hysterosalpingograms, Arthrograms, Facet Joint Injections, Aspirations, Biopsies and other Special procedures.

X-rays are a form of ionizing radiation that can pass through most tissues of the body. Modern x-ray equipment produces high quality images using a minimum of radiation.

Your physician’s office will make the appointment for you through Central Booking at WGH and will give you an Outpatient requisition that documents the exam requested, clinical information and any preparations required for the exam. You must bring this requisition and your Health card to your appointment. The exam will not be performed if there is no requisition for the exam. The radiologist will interpret the exam and the results will be sent to your physician within 3-5 working days.
