What is an Eating Disorder?

An eating disorder is a serious mental health problem. Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa are eating disorders in which people are obsessed with weight and body shape. Individuals with Anorexia Nervosa have dangerously low body weight and follow extremely strict diets. Individuals with Bulimia Nervosa often are within a normal weight range, but use binge eating and purging to control their weight.
